Eluthera, Bahamas • 2005 • unbuilt

A burgeoning tourist economy on the narrow island of Eluthera presented the opportunity to design an ecologically friendly resort destination. Two graceful curves arc across the site, pinching to define a courtyard. The main building houses the hotel reception, restaurant, spa, recreational, and support activities, while the guest cottages are arrayed across the site. Each bungalow is oriented, staggered, and elevated to maintain an ocean view while deflecting prevailing winds and maximizing natural light inside each unit.
