North Moore Playroom
TriBeCa, New York, New York • 2007

Part of a larger project, the conversion of a home office into a child’s playroom uses some clever cabinetry as both storage and play-area. A bench seat becomes an aircraft hangar, drydock, and heavy machinery shed. A storage bin opens like a treasure chest but also folds down like a ramp so toys can be quickly shoveled away. Laminated to one wall is a vibrant blue-enameled steel plate which multitasks as a magnetic display wall, a non-white white-board, and a durable surface to prevent wall damage from toys and crayons. (The grown-up toy for the living room: a custom fabricated Lucite coffee table hides nothing but itself.)
